Examinations

A common comment we hear from new patients is I have never had such a complete eye exam!

Your eye examination in our office involves providing you with the best vision possible. We evaluate the efficiency of how well your eyes work together to ensure comfortable, non-strained vision. We also carefully evaluate your eye health. We explain the various testing that we are performing.

Your examination testing will vary depending on your general health and your visual needs. A typical exam includes determining initially:

  • Medical and family history (some eye disease is hereditary and many medical problems cause eye problems
  • How you use your vision in your daily life
  • What concerns you have about your vision and your eyes

Further testing and evaluation involves:

  • Automated computers providing basic prescription information
  • Eye alignment testing
  • Color vision testing
  • Depth perception testing
  • Visual field evaluation
  • Vision in low light conditions
  • Prescription determination with integrated computers
  • Intraocular pressure testing
  • Health evaluation (may include dilation)
  • Analysis of findings
  • Recommendation of best methods of visual correction
  • Addressing other vision or eye health concerns

If you have a diagnosed eye condition such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy or macular degeneration additional visual field testing, optical scans, and fundus photos are performed in office allowing our doctors to determine appropriate prescriptions, dietary changes, and surgical or other medical referrals

For Young Vision Care patients in need of laser eye surgery Dr. Sao John Liu of Omaha Eye and Laser Institute performs his initial consultations in our office.
